The Improving School Mental Health for Youth with Disabilities practice group is commited to actively recruiting a broad range of stakeholders interested in engaging in dialogue to identify topics focused on identifying current evidence based practices in school mental health programs, recognizing the barriers to improving services for youth with disabilities, that incluce but are not limited to the foillowing examples: a) definitions related to this population of students, b) meaningful engagement of youth, c) authentic youth and family voice, and d) full participation in school reform effforts, especially high school reform. The practice group will develop Dialogue Guide s on the topic of improving school mental health services for youth with disabilities and will widely disseminate information and tools that are developed by the practice group to the networks represented by our members. We will also review and recommend conference presentations for the annual conference on school mental health, assuring that the presentations recommended na reflect evidence based practices that cam be replicated by others. We will also explore the connections between our work and the work of other practice groups in the National Community on School Mental Health and share work and dialogue with the other practice groups as
appropriate. Finally we are commited to expand membership, honor the active participation of all members, learn from each other and share leadership in our work.
14th Annual Conference on Advancing School Mental Health: "School Mental Health: Promoting Success for All Students"

Everyone is invited to attend two discussion sessions that our practice group "Improving School Mental Health Services for Youth with Disabilities" will host. The first is a breakfast roundtable scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 7:20 to 8:20 (please refer to your conference booklet for location) and the second is a lunch roundtable on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 scheduled for
12:15 – 1:15 (please refer to your conference booklet for location). We will be actively seeking your interests for further dialogue on this topic. All suggestions are welcome! We hope to keep the momentum of our group going after the conference by investigating the topics that you feel are important, we will disseminate materials that you suggest to all of the networks represented by our members and we are planning to develop diaglogue guides and fact sheets on the topics selected by the group, We need YOUR suggestions!
