* NSTTAC/IDEA Partnership Summary of Performance Webinar Draws a Crowd!
Posted on Thursday 1st April 2010, 12:05pm by Debra Grabill
Yesterday's NSTTAC/IDEA Partnership Webinar drew 235 people into conversation on Summary of Performance (SOP). The following individuals lent their expertise and contributed to a great discussion (in presentation order):

Catherine Burzio, Transition Coordinator, Parent Education Advocacy Training Center, Falls Church, VA

Rebecca Cort, Deputy Commissioner, New York State Education Department - VESID; Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation

Ed Amundson, Special Education Teacher, C.K.McClatchy High School, Sacramento, CA; National Education Association Special Education Cadre

Stacie Dojonovic, Transition Facilitator, Fox Chapel Area School District, Pittsburgh, PA; Council for Exceptional Children, Division on Career Development and Transition

Steve Bigaj, Professor of Education; Director, Graduate Studies, Keene State College, Keene, NH

Jane Warner, Director, Disability Services, Keene State College, Keene, NH

Matthew Shapiro, Student, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA

One conclusion: waiting until a student is exiting high school is much too late, that the SOP requirement should be seen as a great tool for students, families, school and VR staff to use to support building a student's self-advocacy skills and everyone's understanding of the student's interests, abilities and support needs.

What do you think? Please add your questions and ideas to the discussion. Select "Practice Groups" under the "Groups" section in the column to the right and join the Summary of Performance Practice Group. Welcome!

The SOP Webinar link will be posted here once it available. For additional information and great resources on Secondary Transition, please visit the NSTTAC website: www.nsttac.org
