Guidelines for School Community Partnerships
Posted on Wednesday 21st October 2009, 8:00pm by Lisa Betz
The Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership (ICMHP) was convened in 2003 to develop and implement a strategic plan that addresses the prevention, early intervention and treatment needs of Illinois children from birth to age eighteen. As part of that effort the School Age Committee developed Guidelines for Schools-Community Partnerships.
Included in this announcement are the training powerpoint and worksheet designed to assist in the development of these partnerships. The training demonstrates the link between meeting the mental health needs of students and improved academic outcomes, how to develop successful community-school partnerships to address those needs, and recent developments at the state level that lend support for school community mental health collaborations. Issues addressed include identification of key stakeholders, collaborative leadership styles and structures, confidentiality, record keeping and measurement of collaborative outcomes. Participants will receive a copy of the ICMHP Guidelines for School-Community Partnerships: Addressing the Unmet Mental Health Needs of School Age Children.
